MAF pilot dies in PNG

Tari is about 150 kilometres west of Mt Hagen. Swiss national Pierre Fasnacht, 42, a highly skilled pilot with 12 years flying experience in PNG, died on Thursday March 23 at around 11am AEST. He joined MAF in 1992. The three passengers sustained serious injuries but are recovering in Kudjip Nazarene Hospital. An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway. Pierre leaves a wife, Esther, and four children: Luca (10), Noe (7), Gioia (5) and Alex (3). |
MAF is greatly saddened to report that a pilot has been killed whilst on approach to Tari Airfield in the southern highlands of Papua New Guinea aboard a Cessna 206 with three male passengers on board.
